March 29, 4:30-6 pm
Hey y’all! Stop by for happy hour before starting your night. Eat free grub and grab yourself a drink while listening to short readings filled with gumption by Bradley Bazzle, award-winning author of Trash Mountain; Literary Arts grant recipient Samuel Snoek-Brown, author of Hagridden and There Is No Other Way to Worship Them; tammy lynne stoner, author of Sugar Land, which the NY Journal of Books called “writing at its finest”; and Nick White, author of How to Survive a Summer named by Book Riot as one of the best queer books of 2017 and Sweet and Low. Hosted by the hilarious comedian Belinda Carroll.
March 30, 10 am – 6 pm
Meet the many of the smallest, newest, and best literary presses, magazines, and producers in the Northwest. This one-day AWP-offsite event showcases the many presses that don’t have the staff or means to be at the longer AWP three-day book fair.
Presses and producers include: Entre Ríos Books, Scablands Books, Chin Music Press, Page Boy Magazine, Sage Hill Press, SPLAB, Short Run Seattle, Blue Cactus Press, Fronterra Magazine, Margin Shift Reading Series, Cadence Video Poetry Festival / Northwest Film Forum, Till Writers, Mount Analogue, Ravenna Press, StringTown Press, The Bear Deluxe/Orlo, Papeachu Press, Rhododo Press, Coast | No Coast, Winter Texts, and Floating Bridge Press.
March 30, 7:30 pm – midnight
After the Northwest Micropress Fair (see above) wraps up, they’re going to open a cash bar and hit us with a MASSIVE lineup of fabulous Northwest readers. And me. (I’m on at 9 pm.)
Thirty-two writers in three one-hour sets, followed by a night of film and music. Come party!
More events coming this winter and spring!
As Blue Cactus Press and I spread the word about There Is No Other Way to Worship Them, we’ll be adding more events, including at AWP!
