So, apparently, we’re in the middle of something called “Bloggiesta,” a blog-renewal movement during which we all should revamp or upgrade our blogs. News to me, but the funny thing is, I was already planning to do just this.I was reviewing my website last week and realized that I switched over here from Blogger almost exactly a year ago, so I’ve decided to do a bit of a redesign to coincide with the January 26 anniversary of the move.
The features already in place here–the Writer’s Notebook, the Photo blog, my NaNoWriMo stuff, my pages on writing and teaching and pop culture and, of course, coffee–will remain in place and, in the case of the recurring features like the photos and the Notebook, will continue as before. But I’m going to add a few pages and rearrange the navigation a bit. The biggest change, though, will be to the appearance of the site.
Got anything you’d like me to add to the site? Let me know–I’m open to suggestions, but now’s the time to send them!
Good luck, Samuel. Hope you get some great things done this weekend. Happy bloggiesta.
Hey, leeswammes! Thanks for stopping by! And happy bloggiesta to you, too.
Love your blog, by the way. Reading, writing, cooking(!), and Dutch(!!!)? Those are all right up my alley! Welcome to my blogroll, ma’am!
Don’t know if you have time to peruse my blog, but you might be interested by my account of our trip to the Netherlands back in April. My wife and I were there partly just to relax but mostly to visit the town my Dutch great-grandfather was raised in (Hoorn). Fabulous country you live in! The account of the trip starts here, but you might also be interested in an earlier entry about my grandfather’s memoirs about his Dutch father.
Anyway, thanks again for popping over here. Look forward to your revamp of your blog this weekend!
Hi Samuel,
Yes, Snoek, that has to be Dutch, I knew it. Do you pronounce it Snooke (as you should)? 🙂
Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. I don’t have one but will keep an eye out for your posts in my RSS reader.
I will check your trip to the Netherlands (bit busy now, I will remember, though). I’m not sure I’ve ever been in Hoorn but the countryside around there is so nice.
I did a lot of work on my family tree (maybe you have, too), but no ancestors from Hoorn, or anywhere else in the North-West of the country, for that matter.
“Revamp or upgrade”? Bah, I’ve only just got to grips with my existing layout! Still, if everyone else changes, I can claim the style kudos by calling mine ‘retro’.
I like your blog, Sam, there’s lots of interesting stuff to flick through, it reminds me of a magazine.
Enjoying your stones too x
Thanks, Sam! I will definitely take “magazine” as a compliment–and a challenge to live up to! Like I said, I plan to maintain what’s here in more or less the structure it’s in now. I just want to change the layout and a little of the organization to make navigation a bit easier.
Still enjoying your stones as well! 🙂
